HISTORY BOILS VAST AND DEEP AND EVER RISING

From Nothing to Us (or FNtU)

Ah, so you've come through to the side of this house with a lot of dust and scrolls in it. Well, don't just stand there, come, sit!

If this is the first time you've heard of FNtU, it's best I fully get you acquainted with this all-too-ambitious project. It started conceptual life as a series of books, but it will start its true life as a podcast. If you came here from listening to that, then hi! If not, that's okay. There'll be a link to the 'cast somewhere below.

Anyways, this project is about history, if you hadn't already figured out. I'm a storyteller at heart, and so this look at history from beginning (and I mean the very beginning) to now will be sweeping, narrative-focused, poetic, and far too dramatic at times. I start this story at the first moments of the universe, drag it through the culmination of all-history through to today. If that piques your interest, then I invite you to come along for the ride! And, oh, it'll be a very long ride. I suspect there'll be on the order of a thousand episodes of pure narrative to the podcast.

The podcast'll be organized into seasons called "books", which isn't just to sound cool. It's because at the conclusion of each season, I mean to compile and polish all my scripts into a book to publish for y'all's benefit! And based on the length of this series, I estimate there'll be around 18 books, but that is wont to change. The first few will deal with the history of the greater universe, the Earth, life on this planet, early hominids, prehistoric humans, and the birth of civilization through to the Late Bronze Age Collapse. The next few'll focus on classical history up to the early medieval ages, and from there, the amount of years packed into each book will have shrunk greatly as more and more sources survive to our time. From around the mid-1600s onwards, each book will cover less than a century, and in the case of the last few, only 2-3 decades. And by the time I get around to working on those, I will be quite old.

That's the grand plan all laid out. Alongside all this, I'll be compiling a series of timelines to go with each book. There'll be a main timeline with a smattering of what I consider to be major events in the universe and on Earth. Most of these lines will grow to be really quite big, so expect a lot of scrolling. But that's the fun of it! Also, don't expect them to be especially pretty. I'm far from a graphic designer, if you hadn't noticed by now, lol.

Speaking of graphics, this will be the zone for all the pictures, maps, quotes, and further reading links to each podcast chapter. They'll be on their own pages, of course, since there are, as I previously said, gonna be a lot of chapters. Those links'll be on their own landing page when I get around to uploading the first chapters.

Anyways, that's about it. Onto the links.
